Applications of the
SAHARA Dew Point Meter (SDPM)
are varied and cover a wide range of plant problems.

One of the most common uses is the control of a SAHARA compressed air dryer. By using the SAHARA Dew Point Meter to measure outlet dewpoint and switch towers on the dryer, based on dewpoint rather than time, the energy consumption of any dryer can easily be cut in half.

An additional feature of using the instrument with a dryer is the ability to constantly monitor dryer performance. By accurately measuring the dryer's outlet dewpoint, you will know when the desiccant in the dryer needs replacing or if a problem develops. Because you can immediately see any increase in dewpoint, you can correct the problem before it is too late and you have wet air downstream.

Other applications include the measurement of moisture in:

  • control of compressed air dryer
  • instrument air
  • carbon dioxide gas
  • natural gas from a producing well
  • vacuum evacuation and gas refill in oil filled transformers
  • hydrocracker gas streams
  • argon; used as a blanketing gas in glove box applications
  • nitrogen process gas for a polyester chip dryer
  • a hydrogen-rich hydrocarbon stream
  • an inert cover gas for polymers
  • conditioned air for failure analysis of electronic components
  • pigments for paints and plastics
  • helium gas for nuclear reactors
  • nitrogen-oxygen blanketing gas used in semiconductors production
  • service air systems aboard ships, including air systems for radar wave guides
  • hydrogen annealing ovens
